2016 Brunello di Montalcino Ugolforte

Dette er en skelsættende årgang fra Tenuta San Giorgio. I 2016, kort efter at høsten var kommet i hus, gennemgik vingården et ejerskifte. Og de nye ejere, de har helt andre tilgange til vinproduktion. I markerne blev der øjeblikkeligt omlagt til økologisk vitikultur, og druerne som netop var blevet høstet, de fik kun lov at få 6 måneder på brugte, franske barrique fade, før de fik den resterende tid på store, slavoniske fade. Det populistiske og kønsløse skulle ud, så traditioner og bæredygtighed kunne komme ind!

For de små fade spolerer terroirudtrykket i vinen, og med så gode marker som Tenuta San Giorgio var i besiddelse af, virkede det vanvittigt at skærme de vidunderlige druers udtryk med fadsmag. Tidligere havde man udelukkende gæret på små fade, hvor fadpåvirkningen er markant større. Men det var altså fra 2016 et overstået kapitel.

Her får du en tæt og mørk Brunello, hvor frugtnoterne både byder på mørke kirsebær, blommer og brombær. Det følges op med et hav af komplimenterende aromaer, hvor vi finder blodappelsin, appelsinskal og en jordet terroir fornemmelse.

Det er helt utroligt hvilket niveau, som denne vin er blevet taget til. Og lidt af et lykketræf, at det skulle ske lige efter høsten af en så legendarisk årgang, som 2016 har vist sig at være.
