Crafted from vines planted on calcareous soils with pebbles, the 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape from Domaine de la Cote de l'Ange, a blend of 65% Grenache Noir, 25% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah, exhales a floral, delicate and complex bouquet of peony, rose, dark cherries, fresh thyme and spices. Medium to full-bodied, enrobing and enveloping, it's layered and textured with polished, powdery tannins despite a structured, slightly firm finish enhanced by notes of chocolate and kirsch. Matured in equal parts concrete tanks and stainless steel, this is a real success that needs time to chill out.

Checking in at 15.8% alcohol, the polished 2022 Châteauneuf-du-Pape beats the rustic 2020 by a landslide. Melted licorice, black cherry, black tea, black olives and violet are all nicely delineated. Full-bodied yet totally refreshing, the 2022 integrates the elevated alcohol surprisingly well and comes with secure aging potential.

Utterly classic notes of black cherries, Provençal garrigue, wild strawberries, and peppery notes all emerge from the 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape, a gorgeous 2022 based on 65% Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre, and the rest Syrah. Medium to full-bodied and balanced, with good concentration, it's going to shine right out of the gate yet still have 12-15 years of overall longevity. It will be loved by the traditionalists out there.

Juicy, quite straightforward at this early stage, not overly ambitious. Good sense of purity and balance. Tannins are fine, detailed. Damson and raspberry fruit and a touch of leaf tea. Will appear simple in youth, but should take on interest with time, so wait. A little hard to judge at this stage; I might be underscoring it.
