”We want to produce a wine that we like, because if we don’t sell it, we drink it!” afslutter den Bourgogne-fødte winemaker Ferreol du Fou sin introduktion til 1er Grand Cru Classe slottet Troplong Mondot i Saint-Emilion.

This is worth stocking up on”.

"Lots of blackcurrant, violets, very beautiful black cherries in the nose. Magnificent brilliance. Slightly spicy on aeration. In the mouth, beautiful complexity, very great freshness, a relatively important density and a bit earthy and cold terroir. Crunchy and juicy,  beautiful acidity and juicy roundness. Tannins are fresh fine grained. Aerial and minty finish. Very beautiful finish. A great Mondot. Superb!"

"Dark ruby garnet, opaque core, violet reflections, wider rim brightening. Still somewhat restrained, dark berry fruit, delicate cherries and nougat. Juicy, a touch of figs, but also red berries, fine, ripe tannins, fresh structured, white pepper in the finish."

93/100 point | Robert Parker

"Unwinding in the glass with aromas of sweet blackberries and raspberries mingled with hints of rose petal and spices, the 2020 Mondot is medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with a pure, seamless core of vibrant fruit and a long, succulent finish. Derived from Merlot growing on recently acquired vineyards on Saint-Émilion's limestone plateau, some 40% of the blend is matured in tank, with the rest in once-used barriques."

93/100 point | Decanter

"Milk chocolate, violets, roses, lots of vibrant floral aromas with blue and red fruit. Super-fresh and vibrant, a crystalline and finessed aspect to the blueberry, red cherry and damson fruit but remaining quite fine in terms of texture. Focused, not so rich or plush, silky with the limestone giving the strictness, but also precision, sense of purity and salty, slate minerality alongside clove, cinnamon and liquorice. Mouthwatering acidity gives the vibrancy and overall this is round, layered and well balanced with energy and focus. Consistent quality in 2020 with a touch of the Trolong shine and sparkle. Ageing 60% one-year-old barrels, 40% stainless steel tank for 14 months. This is worth stocking up on."

93/100 point | Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux

"Love this wine, which conveys real personality, majoring on blueberry, raspberry and redcurrant fruits, with a great whack of salinity on the finish. This really comes in strong on slate and salted tang, a delicious second wine with the punch and the power of Troplong but showcasing the finesse of limestone soils. Harvest September 5 to October 3. Not released En Primeur, just when in bottle. Aged in 60% neutral barrel, 40% in stainless steel. Beautiful spice here, real depth with extra creaminess as it has opened up since En Primeur. "

"The 2020 Mondot is an absolute delight. Freshly cut flowers, blood orange, sage, mint and rose petal accents are all laced together in this sensual, mid-weight Saint-Émilion. Mondot, 100% Merlot from limestone soils, is terric. Aging is 60% in wood and 40% in tank, which also helps maintain energy."
